Help yourself!
I mainly write fiction, although in two different genres. I've written two romantic comedy novels and a collection of short stories that feature quite a bit of music, the vast majority of it original. I've been known to play some of the songs at author events!
In addition, I've written a bit of crime fiction. Set in Edinburgh, mine isn't dark. At least not so far.

Four Old Geezers and a Valkyrie (2012)
Four Old Geezers And A Valkyrie is set in modern day Edinburgh and tells the story of Brian, aka ‘Captain’, a recently-retired, disillusioned teacher who has split acrimoniously with his ex-wife, known for a wild temper and throwing things at him. In his rush to get free of her, he has mistakenly agreed to give her half of his newly-acquired pension, seriously threatening his precarious finances.
But a chance meeting with his best man encourages Captain to dig out his forty-year-old guitar, which leads to a series of hilarious jam sessions in a back garden in Merchiston during which they record a couple of Captain’s own songs. Posted on YouTube, they prove to be surprise hits, propelling the four ‘musicians’ and their lawyer into encounters with a tiny manager, a boy-band and a female Polish dancer, a cigar-puffing earl and a famous rock band. Grace Notes (2023)
This is a collection of twenty classic-length short stories, written over the course of a decade or so, showcasing the varied themes Gordon’s prepared to explore: racism, infidelity, hypocrisy, life and death… and, above all, music. More than a few come with their own piece of music, most of which are original – a pop song, a folk tune, even an advertising jingle.
Several of these stories feature characters from elsewhere, but all are free-standing. There’s nothing the reader needs to do here other than to sit down and relax… To download an ebook copy of Grace Notes, click the relevant link below.
