Katherine of Comely Bank
Written by Phil for my wife Katherine's 50th birthday in 2001. I think the (very professional) recording might have been done during the making of a BBC Scotland programme for Burns Night. Various individuals were asked what Burns song meant most to each of them, and I'm guessing Duncan Chisholm might have been talked by Phil into recording this at the end of Duncan's own contribution to the show.
Phil handed the tape and the music over to me in the Castle Bar in Johnston Terrace underneath Edinburgh Castle, where I got to watch Phil accompany Dick Gaughan singing Parcel O' Rogues on a concertina, then have a drink with them afterwards. Phil's never met my wife yet. Maybe one day. (Message for Duncan – thanks for playing on this.) |
