August 2023 saw the publication of Grace Notes, a collection of 20 short stories written over the space of a decade. Although you'll sometimes recognise characters that appear elsewhere in my stories, each of these stories is entirely free-standing, and there should be something for everyone.

The Piano Exam
The Piano Exam is a free short story, written as a prequel to Four Old Geezers And A Valkyrie. It tells the story of Brian, who wishes to pass a piano exam as an adult, and the assistance he receives from an unusual teacher.
It really is free, and at 7,500 words, it can be read in 10-15 minutes. |
